Grandmas raisin cookies
Ingredients
- 2 cups raisins
- 1½ cups water

1 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- ¼ tsp allspice
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract

3 eggs
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt
- 1½ cups chopped walnuts
Process
- Simmer raisins in water for five minutes
- Drain raisins retaining ½ cup of liquid
- Mix shortening, spices and vanilla
- Cream sugar and Shortening
- Beat in eggs one at a time
- Sift together flour, baking powder and salt
- Add baking soda to retained raisin liquid
- Add retained liquid alternately with the dry team to the shortening
- Add raisins and nuts
- Drop by teaspoons on parchment paper
- Bake at 350℉ 12-15 to preference
